Matunda Parochial School is a mixed day and boarding primary school established in January 2000 at Nambale District, Busia County in the western part of Kenya to provide quality education to the children in the community who could not afford it due to prevailing poverty.
Despite numerous challenges over twenty-two years of existence, the school has been able to produce men and women of positive impact to their community and nation at large.
For more details about the careers of former students, see the section entitled "Impact of the school".
History of the school - started in 2000

Our founder, Madam Anne Omina, being a woman that knew the benefits of education to a society, and one that had also acquired one, first had an idea. She felt the need to start offering basic education to the children in the community who despite being at school attending age could stay at home due to rampant poverty. The idea interested her husband, who welcomed it, and through the support of her father-in-law, Matunda School came into existence on Christian foundation.
Impact of the school

The Matunda Parochial School sat for her first National Examination (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) in the year 2008 and managed to perform very well by taking some of the students to the most prestigious national schools and other top county schools in the country. Our top student that year managed to secure a place in Alliance Girls High School. Since then, the school has continued to perform exceptionally well.
With over twenty-two years of existence, the school has been able to produce men and women of positive impact to their community and nation at large, majority of whom are currently working in the government and the private sector of the economy as:
engineers
doctors
nurses
teachers
economists
accountants
...not to mention successful business men and women.
Why we are asking for your help

Through the leadership of our founders, the school has been able to operate all these years despite facing various financial difficulties which have hindered development. Mr. MacArthur has been our main financial supporter, but due to unavoidable illness, he has retired and isn't able to carry on with this noble task.
The school therefore welcomes any support from individuals and organizations as this will be highly appreciated.
Please help us continue the vision of the Matunda Parochial School, as established by its founders:
MOTTO: Knowledge is Power
FOUNDERS: Mrs. Anne Omina Etisi and Mr. MacArthur Zakaria Etisi
VISION: To produce well-rounded men and women in the society.
Your donation, coupled with their founding vision, will have an impact that lasts for ages!
What would happen without your donation?
In a word: "momentum".
Since last year, so many things have occurred:
A 501(c)(3) non-profit has been organized (this website)!
A virtual Data Science class with former students has been operating for 6 months!
Many former students have come forward to help in these efforts (the next generation of leaders)!
Current students of the Matunda Parochial School continue to get educations they otherwise couldn't afford.
Donations from last year were a major uplift to the school facilities and the community in general:
See the constuction pictures on the Past Projects page
(see "Thank You donors!" video below).
Without your donation, these projects with positive impacts to the community lose their momentum...
... and there are still many urgent projects slated for the near future:
upgrading the bathroom facilities
getting access to drinking water
other critical facilities improvements
and community-driven projects that help the school be self-sustaining
