Bathroom Renovation project
Matunda School bathroom renovation project - December 2022 - May 2023:
Work has begun (late December, 2022) on upgrading the bathroom facilities!
This will be an important upgrade to the school - as you can see the size and condition of the existing bathrooms in the background.
This is the only school in the area that doesn't turn away students for lack of finances. By supporting them, you support the education of children that otherwise wouldn't get educated.
Additional progress being made - digging out for the septic tank.
Notice the huge rocks that must be extracted. This is back-breaking work (all done manually) and those that appear to be standing around are taking a much-needed break before stepping in to relieve those currently working.

Septic Tank completion:

On the right is the covered septic tank as it's being plumbed over to the girls' bathroom and down to the boys' bathroom.
This is a huge step forward from the pit latrines (shown in the background of this photo and the two videos above)!
Bathroom/shower completion:

On the right is one of 3 shower stalls (directly across the hall).
And at the end of the hall is a handwashing station.
The boys' bathroom facility matches the girls' facility - 3 toilets, 3 showers, 1 handwashing station.
